I obtained my joint PhD from Shandong University and the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag/ETH Zurich). I then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta (Canada) and Washington University in St. Louis (USA).
My research focuses on biological wastewater treatment and resource recovery and environmental microbiology, with core research interests including:
l Biological nitrogen removal and aerobic granular sludge/biofilm processes;
l Biotransformation of emerging contaminants (e.g., antibiotics) and evolution of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs);
l Microbial interaction mechanisms between protists and bacteria.
I have led multiple research projects, including the Youth Program and General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the General Program of Guangdong Province, and the Open Fund of Provincial Key Laboratory. I have published more than 40 papers in renowned journals such as ISME J., Environ. Sci. Technol., J. Hazard. Mater., Appl. Environ. Microbiol., Funct. Ecol., and hold 3 authorized invention patents.
