Dr. Yijing Shi, Associate Professor, Youth Elite Scholar of South China Normal University. She was a Joint Ph.D of Shandong University and The Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag/ETH), in Environmental Engineering. She had postdoctoral research experiences in University of Alberta (2013-2015) and Washington University in St. Louis (2017). She is working on the research field of biological wastewater treatment and resourcezation, with research interests of application of granular sludge, partial nitritation/anammox technology, and biological treatment of nonbiodegradable substances. She successfully established Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBRs) for oil-sands process-affected water (OSPW) treatment. She is the principal investigator (PI) of 3 research grants, i.e. 1 project supported by the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 1 project supported by South China Normal University Youth Elite Scholarship and 1 joint-supervision project. She was involved in a number of research grants, such as 6 projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and 2 projects supported by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). She is a member of International Water Association (IWA). She published more than 20 scientific papers in Journals of Bioresource Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, and 3 invention patents were authorized.
